I bought these boots from LL Bean waaayyy back around 1998, when I had just one baby (now in college) and another on the way (now a junior in high school). Worn for 16 snowy Maine winters, these boots are as good as the day I bought them. I also love that they are still Made in Maine!
Happy Friday! One of my favorite parts of winter weekends is cooking. I love to make meals that take a while. Last weekend I made homemade baked beans and cornbread. Having been raised in New England, baked beans are traditional Saturday night supper. However, the recipe I use is from The Little House the Prairie Cookbook. These beans take the better part of an afternoon, but the results are worth it! :
You may recall from an earlier post about my love all things Little House on the Prairie / Laura Ingalls Wilder Related – This book is no exception. Along with the baked beans, I’ve made several other recipes based on pioneer cooking including biscuits and mincemeat.
These beans are not as sweet as traditional New England Baked Beans – which I find a bit too syrupy. I added sliced up kielbasa along with the salt pork for a little extra flavor. I’ll post the recipe soon!
